Lianne Hannaway is a Chartered Professional Accountant, a finance executive, an investor and founder of Wealthnuvo, a financial education and coaching platform for women building generational wealth.
Lianne’s mission is to help women, especially Black women, reach their financial goals allowing them to live better and impact the lives of their families, our communities and our economy.
I have seen the impact money stress plays in the lives of women and their families – heart disease, being stuck at an unfulfilling job, no assets to pass on to your children. As an investor, I have also seen the power of understanding money and investing: it can drastically reduce stress, bring security into your life, provide new more fulfilling opportunities and finally see an end to your “working for somebody else” life.
I have a Bachelor of Mathematics and a Master of Accountancy both from the University of Waterloo. I earned my Chartered Accounting designation and spent over 15 years in the financial services industry helping public and private companies manage and report their earnings to shareholders. My leadership roles include the Toronto Stock Exchange, Shorcan Brokers, TSX Trust, KPMG Canada, KPMG France and the Black Professionals in Tech Network. I am actively pursuing my Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation.
I am a Board Member and Treasurer for the Equality Fund, a Canadian-led, international fund designed to support gender equality around the world and Kids Help Phone, Canada’s only 24/7, national support service providing professional online and telephone counselling and volunteer-led, text-based support to youth across Canada in both English and French. My former board roles include Humber College and Vice-President and the Canadian Association of Urban Financial Professionals.
